What effect does weight training have on osteoporosis?
Answered By Matthew Boherty
Osteoporosis is a condition where the bone density decreases and increases the risk of fractures. Everyone's bones thin as we age. Studies have proven that weight training or weight-bearing exercises can significantly increase bone mass. A simple half mile walk everyday can increase bone mass. Weight training can also increase bone mass, however, if you have osteoporosis, you should first consult your doctor and tell your weight training instructor about your condition in order to provide a special weight training program for you.
