I want to put a weight set and a treadmill in an upstairs bedroom. Will this cause structural issues?

Can you answer rcarltonr’s question about Bodybuilding?:
The house is brand new. The treadmill is 300lbs. The weight set is 300lbs and the squat rack weighs ~350 lbs. Please help! I want a gym…but I obviously don’t want issues with the house.

Bodybuilding Feedback: It depends how fat the person on the treadmill is
Bodybuilding Feedback: Your home is built to support alot more weight then the combined weight of workout equipment. There will be no structural issues.
Bodybuilding Feedback: I tried some Google searches, and found that most building codes say that floors in a residence must be able to withstand live loads (that’s the load due to furniture, people, anything added after the structure is built) of at least 40 pounds per square foot.
So if we assume the area the treadmill takes up on the floor measures about 3 feet by 5 feet, that would be 15 square feet, and the floor should be able to support a load of at least 600 pounds over that area. A really heavy person might stretch those limits a little, but that’s just within that small area. There should be no problem when the load over the entire room is considered.
